Hello there folks,
I’m not going to lie, this entry is going to be somewhat different to what I had originally planned. Nonetheless, throughout my creative process in writing the Stories from the Sea-Side City series, I have used a variety of innovative methods to expand my ideas. In addition to sketching and photo editing, I also utilised gaming to enhance my visions of characters and areas within the Sea-Side City universe.
This was especially the case with my wrestling characters (primarily featured in Untold Legend). Being an avid wrestling fan for most of my life, I utilised the creative capabilities of the WWE games to bring my characters to life. In all honesty, some of the characters from the book predate it by over a decade. I first created Ian Stallion in Smackdown vs Raw 2007 (looking back, I also inadvertently spelt his name 'Stalian' for years:-). Going back even further still, I created Dave Hex in Smackdown Here Comes the Pain in 2003, 16 years ago!
The picture below features them both together back in Smackdown vs Raw 2011 :-D
Wrestling has always been an influential aspect of my life, so I guess it was inevitable that it would creep up in my stories. Once I started writing, it occurred to me that I had quite a roster of virtual wrestlers I had created over the years.
As William Regal once said “Make everything you do matter.”
Originally this entry was going to feed into my new creations on WWE 2K20.
Well… I have started creating them and some of them have been uploaded (with more to come).
However, after discovering the quality of the game this year is… not great, it has occurred to me that people may not be rushing to play it.
But, good news for anyone who owns WWE 2K19, I have already uploaded 5 characters (Ian Stallion, Dave Hex, Boudica, Big Ben & Den) and 5 different arenas all from the Sea-Side City universe.
Next time I’ll reflect on the year – and the year to come…
